Patients with steep, flat, large, or small corneas (or who have experienced lens “dropout” due to poor fit) can benefit from a lens shaped specifically for their eyes. If standard or custom soft lenses still don’t fit comfortably, rigid gas-permeable (RGP) or scleral lenses might provide better stability and sharper vision for those specific cases.

If you’re extremely nearsighted (for example, –12.00, –15.00, or even –20.00 diopters), or have high hyperopia (+10.00 or more), you already know that options are limited. Standard contacts might not go high enough, and popular extended-range lenses such as Biofinity XR are made up to ±20 diopters. For high prescriptions, glasses can be thick and heavy, causing image minification and distorted side vision.
